چکیده
An extensive program for the calculation of galactic cosmic-ray propagation has been developed. This is a continuation of the work described in [1]. The main motivation for developing this code [2] is the prediction of diffuse Galactic gamma rays for comparison with data from the cgro instruments egret, comptel, and osse. The basic spatial propagation mechanisms are (momentumdependent) diffusion, convection, while in momentum space energy loss and diffusive reacceleration are treated. Primary and secondary nucleons, primary and secondary electrons, and secondary positrons are included. Fragmentation and energy losses are computed using realistic distributions for the interstellar gas and radiation fields.

A new numerical model of particle propagation in the Galaxy has been developed, which allows the study of cosmic-ray and gamma-ray production and propagation in 2D or 3D, including a full reaction network. This is a further development of the code which has been used for studies of cosmic ray reacceleration, Galactic halo size, antiprotons and positrons in cosmic rays, the interpretation of dif...

Ultra high energy gamma rays produce electron–positron pairs in interactions on the geomagnetic field. The pair electrons suffer magnetic bremsstrahlung and the energy of the primary gamma ray is shared by a bunch of lower energy secondaries. These processes reflect the structure of the geomagnetic field and cause experimentally observable effects. The study of these effects with future giant a...

We discuss the region of transition between galactic and extragalactic cosmic rays. The exact shapes and compositions of these two components contains information about important parameters of powerful astrophysical sources and the conditions in extragalactic space as well as for the cosmological evolution of the sources of high energy cosmic rays. Several types of experimental data, including ...

We derive constraints on the cosmic rays responsible for the Be and part of the B observed in stars formed in the early Galaxy: the cosmic rays cannot be accelerated from the ISM; their energy spectrum must be relatively hard (the bulk of the nuclear reactions should occur at >30 MeV/nucl); and only 10 erg/SNII in high metallicity, accelerated particle kinetic energy could suffice to produce th...
